Match the Blade to the Job

Key Terms

What the Specifications Mean

01

Baselit

A powerful LED in the hilt shines into a hollow blade. The blade is simpler, cheaper to replace and usually the practical choice for regular contact. The trade-off is less even brightness and fewer animated effects.

02

Pixel Blade and Neopixel

LEDs run along the inside of the blade. This creates bright, even light and scrolling ignition effects. The blade costs more and contains electronics, so it is a less comfortable choice for repeated hard impacts.

03

Xenopixel and SNV4

These are soundboard families used to control sound, motion and pixel effects. Feature sets vary by version. Check the exact board named on the product listing rather than relying on the word pixel alone.

04

Proffie

An open-source soundboard for enthusiasts who want deep customisation. It can produce sophisticated effects, but setup and editing are more involved than a preset board.

05

Sound Font

A themed collection of ignition, hum, swing, clash and power-down sounds. More fonts add variety, not necessarily better speaker quality or easier controls.

06

Blade Length

A 32 inch blade is easier to control and suits tighter spaces. A 36 inch blade has more visual presence and reach, but adds leverage and can feel less agile.

07

Removable Chassis or Core

The electronics module can be taken out for charging, maintenance or replacement. Confirm whether removal is tool-free and whether compatible replacements are actually available.

08

S-RGB

A baselit-style system with richer control, smooth swing and app features on supported models. It aims to combine a durable hollow blade with more advanced sound and colour settings.

Simple Rule of Thumb

Choose baselit or S-RGB for repeated contact and easier blade replacement. Choose Neopixel for bright display, cosplay and video. Choose Proffie when custom programming is part of the appeal.
